Business Notebook: Nocatee adding another wet amenity (The Florida Times-Union)

Nocatee, the huge development that straddles the Duval-St. Johns line, already has a lot of amenities. But more are in the works:

Nocatee Spray Park will be a four-story playground with water spraying over all the climbing and sliding areas. It will include a large deck, food court and bar. It’s expected to open for summer 2018.

To provide for the community’s expansive and growing range of entertainment and activities, a large outdoor area south of the Nocatee Swim Club will be developed to host events held currently at the Town Center, such as the Nocatee Farmers Market, festivals like Roscolusa, and drive-in movies.

The new event field, twice the size of the existing one, will be developed to host events such as the farmers market now held at the Town Center. It will include a new stage for concerts and expanded parking. It’s expected to open next summer.

The 14,000-acre community has been ranked as the third-fastest-selling planned community in the country for more than a year. As of Thursday, 5,072 homes have been sold there, including almost 1,000 this year. Its eventual capacity is in the 10,000-12,000 range.
